Event registers 22% growth in exhibitor numbers, with upcoming edition poised to take place from 7th to 9th November across more 6,000 m2 of IFEMA Madrid’s Hall 3.

Cleaning robots are the industry’s technological stars and will be the focal point of a new exhibition zone within Hygienalia that will also feature demonstrations of polishing and a series of technical talks.

Valencia, 3 November 2023.- All is set for Hygienalia 2023. What will be the sixth edition, already, of Hygienalia will be opening its doors in hall 3 at the IFEMA exhibition centre in Madrid from next Tuesday 7th November to Thursday 9th.  Hygienalia is Spain’s benchmark event for the professional cleaning and hygiene sector and this year’s edition will evidence considerable growth in every aspect of the fair.

Organised by Feria Valencia, the biennial show will host a total of 134 companies exhibiting, 22% more than at the last edition in 2021 and with a significant international component: 14.5% of the total are from 11 foreign countries, particularly Italy but also including Austria, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Over the three days, these companies will be showing almost a thousand innovations between them, bothproducts and services, machinery and technology, all geared specifically to the cleaning and hygiene sector. This is the show’s inaugural iteration at IFEMA and it will be occupying some 6,000 m2 of the venue’s exhibition space. The last few editions of Hygienalia had taken place at the

Casa de Campo, also in the Spanish capital.

Hygienalia 2023, more international than ever

This year Hygienalia is consolidating its international aspirations by hosting almost 200 ‘B2B’ meetings between exhibitors and buyers from more than 20 countries in an initiative being promoted by the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of  Cleaning and Hygiene Products, ASFEL, and IVACE Internacional and that fosters solid networking between Hygienalia exhibitors and buyers.  The fair will also be hosting several international buyer missions, with guests coming from markets that are important to Spain’s hygiene industry, including Estonia, Rumania, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Morocco, Holland, Poland, Sweden, France and Portugal. This initiative is being coordinated by ASFEL and supported financially and institutionally by ICEX.

Sustainability, cleaning robots, algorithms and 3D sensors

What will professionals find at Hygienalia 2023? Following the most recent edition, where the focus was on the latest advances in hygiene and disinfection solutions in the context of Covid, Hygienalia 2023 is firmly committed to showing the most sustainable solutions in industrial cleaning products as well as robotic technology.

Professionals visiting  Hygienalia will see toilet tissue and wipes made from recycled cardboard beverage packaging or that is FSC or Climate Neutral certified; industrial detergents made from waste cooking oil and probiotic and enzymatic cleaning products. This sphere of the fair will also feature innovations such as air fresheners and disinfectants specifically designed for olfactory marketing techniques and new ‘Pet Free’ air fresheners designed to prevent pets’ undesirable behaviour.

Technology is a major player in this industry and makes cleaning robots the true industry stars and the most coveted products at events like Hygienalia. In 2023 these robots will be displaying unexpected increases in their level of autonomy and the size of the area they can work. They will also be showing how they can use robotic algorithms and latest generation 3D sensors. The robots on show include street cleaners, scrubbers, vacuum cleaners and multi-purpose mops that aim to be sustainable by using tightly controlled amounts of water and electricity.

Interest is so keen that Hygienalia has created a ‘Robot Line’ zone, a new area dedicated specifically to new products and demonstrations of industrial cleaning robots and that joins Hygienalia’s three other themed areas:  the Green Line, with environmentally friendly products and solutions, the ‘Red Line’ which focuses on the innovations in selected products and the Shine Line’area, featuring demonstrations of crystallizing floors.

Technical workshops

Lastly, professionals visiting Hygienalia next week will also benefit from the added value of being able to attend the programme of technical talks being given in a dedicated space beside Hygienalia 2023’s commercial zone. The talks have been programmed as one morning and one afternoon session on each of the two dayas of the show, 7th and 8th November.

Also noteworthy is the new Liberty SC60 robot from prestigious manufacturer Nilfisk, which has the biggest scrubbing platform in the market, and intelligent, totally autonomous robotic scrubber Co-Botic 45 from i-team Iberia, which is ideal for hard floors.

Special treatments for floors

Professionals visiting Hygienalia will also have the opportunity to see another of the show’s great demo areas, the ‘Shine Line’zone. This is an area dedicated specifically to special treatments for floors that features a demonstration area where the leading companies in this sector will be crystallizing different floors, explaining the effect of the treatment and showing the results. As well as this area, there will also be an area where each company will be showing a machine and/or a crystallizing fluid.

The fair has already confirmed the timetable of demonstrations, which is set to include companies such as Virgola, with its V450S polisher specially designed for hard floors, and Coor & Kleever’s diamond disc cleaning and polishing system.

An expanded space is on the cards for the next edition of Spain’s leading trade event for functional ingredients, ‘novel foods’ and finished products, scheduled to take place at Barcelona’s CCIB again, on 6th and 7th March.

“After seven editions, it is clear that the sector is firmly behind Nutraceuticals, as the steady flow of space bookings demonstrates,” explains the show’s director, Esther Cano.

Valencia, 16th October 2023.- Nutraceuticals Europe Summit & Expo, Spain’s foremost trade event dedicated to functional ingredients, ‘novel foods’ and finished products, is working flat out on preparations for the upcoming edition, which takes place on 6th and 7th March, once again at the Barcelona International Convention Centre – CCIB.

The event combines an exhibition and an extensive programme of technical activities and lectures. With next year’s set to be the seventh edition of the event, it is now a clearly established industry fixture and is set to expand next year. The organisers in fact launched an ‘Early Booking’ campaign recently, which has been a resounding success, with exhibitors that decide to firm up on their bookings enjoying both financial benefits and advantageous stand locations.

In that sense, the response has been “a success”, according to the fair’s director,

Esther Cano, indicating that “as of today, the space we have available for the exhibition has almost all been booked and we already have the same number of exhibitors signed up as last time” which means, Cano says, that “we will need to expand the square footage given over to the exhibition so we can accommodate the new companies that are wanting to come on board”.

The last edition of Nutraceuticals Europe Summit & Expo, it should be remembered, filled up with a record 98 exhibitors from 12 countries that occupied an entire hall in the Barcelona International Convention Centre – CCCB.  The event also drew more than 2200 professionals to visit, 20% up on the previous edition.

In light of the above, “prospects for the 2024 are very good”, according to event director Esther Cano. “Following seven editions of Nutraceuticals, it is clear that professionals want a forum such as this, where they can see the latest innovations on the market and talk to people who are currently the top specialists in the industry’s leading businesses”, she explains.

Taking all this into account the event, organised by Feria Valencia, will again consist of two sides: a commercial component – exhibitors – and an ambitious congress that is expected to reveal the innovations that will mark the way forward for the industry in the immediate future.

Cleaning tools made with recycled plastic, cleaning solutions that eliminate static electricity, 100% recyclable refuse sacks, circular economy SCRAP systems and an innovative coworking space for the industry are the standout features along the route to sustainability and innovation that Hygienalia 2023 will be setting out for visitors.

Valencia, 9th October 2023.- Hygienalia, Spain’s foremost event for the professional cleaning and hygiene industry, is putting the finishing touches to its sixth edition, set to take place from 7th to 9th this coming November in Hall 3 at Madrid’s IFEMA exhibition centre.

The standout features of the products on show will be sustainability and innovation, exemplified particularly in two themed areas Hygienalia is dedicating specifically to environmental friendliness on the one hand – the Green Line – and to innovation in the development of solutions for the industry on the other – the Red Line.

In both instances visitors will be able to follow a ‘route’ that takes them to every stand in that section of the fair, with exhibitors displaying their products in the ‘Green Section’ or the ‘Red Section’ as appropriate. These themed sections will be set up in a prominent area, within the commercial exhibition, dedicated specifically to sustainability and innovation.

Hygienalia’s ‘green’ commitment

Sustainability has been the backdrop, as it were, to Hygienalia since its inception, with the fair boosting its own and of its exhibitors’ commitment to developing ever more environmentally friendly products and services.

The 2023 edition of the fair will again., therefore, be featuring the Green Line gallery, where companies can display their greenest propositions easily whilst putting them in the spotlight at the same time.

When walking the ‘Green Line’, professionals visiting Hygienalia 2023 will discover products that are markedly environmentally friendly, such as Lytec’s range of buckets, vacuum cleaners and cleaning carts made with as much as 97% recycled plastic.

Other outstanding environmentally centred propositions include the Punto Greta SCRAP system (Manufacturer’s Extended Collective Responsibility System), an initiative – part of the Greta Ecosystem – that includes more than 100 members and offers an innovative solution to complying with environmental regulations and promoting a circular economy.

The sustainable environmental solutions offering also includes a new line of 100% recycled refuse sacks from manufacturer Interval that are highly versatile, come in different sizes and are for both domestic and industrial use.

Red-hot innovation

Hygienalia’s ‘Red Line’ proposition, for its part, enables exhibitors to highlight their innovations and gain even more value from taking part in the fair. The major feature of the products on show here is that they are all highly innovative in how they deliver solutions for the industrial cleaning and hygiene sector.

One example is Valencia-based manufacturer Sanis. Its ‘SANIS Chemistry Coworking service is unique in the market in that it offers a shared space for testing, trialling, manufacturing and packing in sectors such as cosmetics, antiseptics, biocides, detergents and food additives.

Manufacturer Prominent Chemical will be using the ‘Red Line’ to reveal its innovative line of cleaning products, including one that removes oxide from clothes, a new anti-slip floor treatment and a neutral cleaning solution that can eliminate static electricity.

Hygienalia 2023 is staged by Feria Valencia and promoted by ASFEL, the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Cleaning and Hygiene Products, and AEFIMIL, the Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Importers of Industrial and Cleaning Machinery. 109 companies and brands exhibited at the last edition of Hygienalia  and 6005 professionals visited from 35 countries, from sectors including hospitality, food manufacturing, facility services, the health sector, the pharmaceutical industry, service stations and public facilities.

Records show an outstanding 15% of visitors were international, attending from more than 80 countries, plus substantial number of contract projects signed during the fair.

Valencia, 25th September 2023.- Just a few days after this latest edition of Feria Hábitat València and Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar, there is a palpable sense of satisfaction amongst both exhibitors and visitors. With more than 96,000 square metres of commercial exhibition space occupying eight of the halls at Feria Valencia and an offering from 881 international companies and brands, expectations had been riding high – expectations that have been more than fulfilled and that confirm the validity of a large-scale fair that has the power to draw both a domestic and an international audience.

At the end, 45,026 professionals had registered as visitors which would indicate that last year’s trend is being maintained. This year, even without the significant contribution from the kitchen sector, the figures for both Hábitat and Textilhogar are almost the same as last year’s and have far exceeded those of 2019, the last year that Feria Hábitat Valencia took place without Espacio Cocina SICI, which will be back for the 2024 edition.

Exhibitors highlighted in particular the substantial amount of business opportunities generated over the four days of the fair, especially in the field of international contracts. Indeed, the foremost architecture practice in North America was in Valencia these last few days looking for suppliers, as were almost all the leading hotel chains. One Valencian exhibitor, for example, signed off on a deal during the fair to furnish a thousand rooms in a new hotel complex. In this regard and according to initial figures computed, international visitors account for 15% of all the professionals who visited the fair. They came from 80 countries, primarily and in this order, from Portugal, France, Italy, the United States of America, Belgium, Germany, Lithuania, Morocco, Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Another surprise is that in spite of current circumstances, 69 professionals from Russia came to Feria Valencia along with more than a hundred Ukrainian buyers.

Exhibitors commented that the domestic market also appeared to be highly active despite increasing pressure on costs and prices. Retailers from all over the country spent the whole week at Feria Valencia, as did the leading purchasing and distribution groups.

Success for Hábitat València

Feria Hábitat València’s director, Daniel Marco, has described this year’s event as a “success”, underscoring “the high standard, the quality, the level of innovation and the design quality of our exhibitors’ products. Our challenge this year was not just to grow our offering quantitatively but also to offer the professionals coming to visit the best the industry has to offer”. Marco also highlighted how sectors such as the ‘contract channel’ were bigger this year, spurring sales for exhibitors. “This is a channel that Hábitat has selected as a route to supplying new refurbishment and construction projects in sectors such as hotels, hospitality and restaurants. And buyers have not just come from Spain,” Marco explains, “but from all over the world. We have had buyers and specifiers of an exceptionally high level who have been able to see what our industry is capable of”. “This year,” Hábitat’s director continues, “we confirmed the validity of the large-format model that has the power to draw an audience, surpassed the success attached to Valencia being the World Design Capital, and are making preparations for an edition in 2024 that will see the return of a major sector – kitchens – in the guise of the dedicated Espacio Cocina SICI fair”.

Textilhogar delivers “positive” performance and is open to trends and new sectors

Máximo Solaz, director of Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar, is positive following two successful editions of the fair in Valencia that have consolidated the event as one of the foremost in the world of home textiles both nationally and internationally. “The positive response from the industry and the number of high-quality professionals who attended exceeded our expectations, underscoring the importance and relevance of HT by Textilhogar in this sector”, he notes. Solaz also emphasised the key role of the space given over to trends, which was developed in collaboration with AITEX and the companies exhibiting, was in a stand-out location within the commercial exhibition and was very popular: “This exhibit provided a comprehensive insight into the latest products, trends and technological innovations that will mark the future of the home textiles industry”. Another important fact Solaz pointed out was the fair opening to new sectors such as machinery and fibres, which enriched the offering from HTP by Textilhogar. “These sub-sectors are an essential part of the textile industry’s value chain, so will be a focal point of future editions of the fair”.

Álvaro Catalán de Ocón celebrates winning National Design Prize at Ágora nude.

The lecture delivered by Álvaro Catalán de Ocón, who just a week ago was awarded the 2023 National Design Prize, was a great epilogue to this year’s edition of Hábitat and Textilhogar. The renowned designer and interior designer explained the ‘journey’ of the PET Lamp to the audience. The PET Lamp was a sustainability project that combined basketmaking and re-using plastic PET bottles to design and create lamps. By coincidence, the winners of the three most recent National Design Prizes were at this year’s Hábitat and Textilhogar: design company Ondarreta, Álvaro Catalán de Ocón and young designer Jordi Iranzo, of Clap Estudio.

From next Tuesday onwards, Feria Valencia will be hosting fresh editions of Feria Hábitat València and Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar, with both having expanded to take up eight halls and 96,000 square metres of exhibition space.

Valencia, 16th September 2023.- Hábitat and Textilhogar are back. Big time. From next Tuesday 19th until Friday 22nd September, Feria Valencia will be hosting Spain’s biggest trade fair for the décor, interior design and contract sectors. The figures are awesome and say a lot about the return to the second half of the year of large-scale trade fairs with the ability to draw an international audience.

This year this marks a return to growth following the great results achieved last year, when Valencia was also World Design Capital. Feria Hábitat València, for example, the furniture, décor and lighting event, has signed up 435 direct exhibitors, with 631 companies and brands represented19% of which will be from 12 different countries – that will be occupying 20% more space than last time round. Renowned textile fair, Home Textiles Premium (HTP) by Textilhogar will, for its part, be showcasing 81 direct exhibitors whilst a further 250 companies and brands from five countries are being represented.

The total offering across the two fairs comprises 881 international companies and brands, filling all eight halls of Feria Valencia’s Central and West Forums. A total of 96,000 square metres of gross exhibition space, a similar area to last year except that this time, the Cocina SICI Show is not being held as it is biennial.

The biggest Hábitat for a decade, with the industry on a high

This edition of Feria Hábitat València marks its consolidation as Spain’s foremost event for the furniture, lighting and décor sector. The industry is currently in good shape, with output worth 4,690 million euros in 2022 and 1.6% growth in the first quarter of this year according to the AIDIMME Observatory. What is more, exports continue to boom, having increased by 6.6% in the first six months of this year according to ANIEME, whilst sales of furniture were 11% up last year according to consultancy DBK.

All the above is reflected in Feria Hábitat València, which is again delivering higher numbers than the previous year and is poised to be the biggest edition of the last decade, with almost all of the leading Spanish companies present as well as an extensive selection of furniture, lighting, décor and sleep products. Hábitat has also boosted is guest visitor programme this year and has received more than 3000 confirmations of attendance, through an ambitious international programme rolled out in association with IVACE, ICEX and trade associations ANIEME and Fedai in markets such as the US that are particularly important this year. It is worth remembering that 15% of the 48,000 visitors came from 70 countries.

Hábitat is also becoming a design hub. Proof of this is that the recently nominated National Design Award winners will be at Feria Valencia next week: furniture design company Ondarreta is exhibiting, whlst designers Alvaro Catalán de Ocón and Jordi Iranzo, of Clap Estudio, are taking part in the Ágora nude lecture programme. This fair will be focusing on trends, with design innovation and sustainability playing a key role, showcasing leading edge materials and organic solutions: from recyclable PET fibres and renewable raw materials to very long-lasting surfaces and high-performance textiles with, for example, built-in digital, voice-assisted mechanisms.

HTP by Textilhogar, a leading international event for the industry

Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar, for its part, has become a leading international event for the sector. This year, buyers from 43 countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Germany,  India, Ivory Coast,  Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar,  Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America and Uruguay, amongst others, are getting ready to discover the latest trends in home textiles.

All of this is thanks to an Inbound Trade Mission having been organised in partnership with textile trade association ATEVAL – Home Textiles from Spain, IVACE Internacional and ICEX, that should facilitate new opportunities for international collaboration and expansion for the companies exhibiting at the fair.

‘Textile Manufacturers Boulevard’ set to share space with leading Spanish furniture design companies.

Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar has given the ‘Textile Manufacturers Boulevard’, the fair’s unique, exclusive space, a boost this year. The space showcases the most innovative, creative designs along with the latest specialist collections of high-quality, designer fabric upholstery, wallpaper and wall coverings.

For the first time this year the ‘Textile Manufacturers Boulevard’ will be sharing space in the venue’s Hall 1 with leading Spanish furniture design companies in a move designed to highlight the potential of the textile sector in the field of décor.

Contract, design and much more on Ágora nude agenda

Particularly notable alongside the offering from the 800+ companies and brands on show at the imminent edition of Feria Hábitat València and Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar is the extensive programme of activities and lectures. Taking place in the Ágora nude in Hall 4 on Level 3, they will be featuring top-level international professionals.

The issues being addressed over the four days of the fair include the contract business from the hotelier’s and interior designer’s point of view, with a session on Wednesday in the Ágora nude featuring business owners such as Kike Sarasola, well-known interior designers such as Tomás Alía, representatives of HOSBEC and the main hotel chains.  There will also be lectures on aspects of sustainability such as re-purposing waste plastic, new materials for interior spaces, trends in textiles, the competitiveness and promotion of design and the role of women in design. Speakers feature a host of design professionals including Inma Bermúdez, Héctor Serrano, José Manuel Ferrero, Héctor Ruiz, Ana Mir, Isabel López Vilalta and recent award winner Álvaro Catalán de Ocón.

Textile trends for 2024

AITEX will once again be revealing the trends that will influence home textiles in the coming year, 2024. This talk takes place on Thursday 21st September at 11am in the Ágora nude. The association will be presenting a paper that is the result of specific research into trends in home textiles that was carried out over the course of this year and reveals six key trends. ‘Eco-tech’ emerges as an innovation common across all trends, evident in designs for products, textures, graphic motifs and colour palettes.

HTP by Textilhogar is also giving more visibility to trends in the commercial part of the fair. Taking the AITEX paper as its starting point, and in collaboration with exhibitors, the fair’s designers have created a stunning, exclusive space in the middle of the hall (Level 3, Hall 3) that is a masterly summary of the contents of the paper. The aim was none other than to afford visiting professionals a quick, efficient way of seeing the key features that will mark the coming season in the world of home textiles.

Exhibitions: from the Salón nude to Gabriel Teixidó

Visitors should also ensure they see the dedicated exhibitions being staged throughout the Hábitat and HTP by Textilhogar spaces. One of the most notable is what will this year be the 19th edition of the exhibition of emerging design talent, Salón nude (Level 3, Hall 4), which features nine young designers and nine schools of design and university design faculties.

Other major exhibits include a tribute to the career of designer Gabriel Teixidó (Level 3) and an exhibit of the work of master Spanish designer Miguel Milá, which is being staged in association with Santa & Cole (Level 2 – Access via the Foro Centro), whilst a concept exhibition by Valencian designer José Manuel Ferrero celebrates his 20-year career that began at NUDE (Level 3).

On Level 3 in Hall 4 there will also be a display titled “Scene from the near future”, that gives a foretaste of what the home of the future will look like, an exhibit on sustainability devised by Andreu World titled ‘Beyond the plastic wave’ and a display about new materials by the Matter library, titled ‘Contemporary Outward Appearances’.

The celebration of interiors is not confined to the fair and throughout the week, industry professionals will have the opportunity to attend dozens of events and exhibitions that are part of the València Design Fest programme.

Jury selects nine creations by emerging talent to be displayed alongside nine colleges and universities taking part in upcoming edition of Salón nude from 19th to 22nd September within Feria Hábitat València.

València, 7th July 2023.- The work to be shown at Salón nude 2023 has now been selected. The Young Design Talent Show, which is also the main springboard for budding careers and creativity in the field of interiors that takes place in Spain has now confirmed who will be participating in this next edition of the show, which runs from 19th to 22nd September within Feria Hábitat València. The jury, comprised of professionals, selected a total of nine designers, new manufacturers, design galleries and consultancies to take part, along with nine universities and schools of design, in a new edition of nude whose outstanding feature, according to the jury itself, will be the “extremely high standard” of the work selected.

In this regard, the process to select this year’s participants involved a jury comprised of eminent professionals in the field of design, such as specialist design journalist Teresa Herrero; designer and current director of the Fundació del Disseny de la Comunitat Valenciana, Xavi Calvo; designer and founder of Colección Alexandra, Jacobo Ventura; and Venture Experience’s founder and creative director, designer Alberto Martínez.

The members of jury, which is co-ordinated by Salón nude founder and curator Marïa Fontes, all met at Feria Valencia last week to assess all the designs submitted and select the definitive participants in the Salón. The designers and designs consultancies that made the final cut are:

·               Sagarminaga Atelier (Getxo, Bilbao)

Having reviewed all the designs submitted, the Jury singled out those that use “design as an instrument of change with an eye to the future”, and also “the designs that blend different disciplines such as the new contemporary craftsmanship and art design”. In this regard, the Jury rated the element of “exploring and researching new materials” that was present in the designs selected, together with variables such as “ecodesign and commitment to the planet”. The Jury similarly underscored “the search for creative and humanistic solutions geared to improving people’s lives and environment”, which characterised the designs selected.

The content of the next edition of the Salón nude has thus been determined. The event has become a genuine hothouse of Spanish design over the years, with designers who are now very firmly established having started off with a stand there, including Héctor Serrano, Alberto Martínez, Miguel Herranz, José Manuel Ferrero, Odosdesign, Culdesac, Stone Design, Javier Herrero, Luis Eslava, Isaac Piñeiro, EnBlanc, La Mamba – Omelette and Dutch designer Marre Moerel.

  • With València Design Fest, the Fundació del Disseny is maintaining the positive momentum engendered by  the activity set in motion last year during the city’s time as World Design Capital, whilst also giving it continuity.
  • Feria Hábitat València, Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar and Valencia Disseny Week will comprise the focal point of this great month dedicated to interiors and creativity in all its forms
  • The launch event took place at CaixaForum Madrid, in the presence and with the support of a considerable number of agents from the design industry nationwide.

MADRID, 30th  JUNE 2023 – València Design Fest, is set to take place this September, a design festival that will bring together Spanish and international companies and professionals, reveal local talent, the city’s ebullient creativity and the latest trends in design coming from the Mediterranean. All of this will be part of a schedule of activities and events centred on the industry, plus exhibitions, lectures, presentations, projects being led by emerging talent, pop-up spaces, screenings and themed walks, amongst many other initiatives. Following the success of recent years and the level of interest generated, the programme of events is rolling out over a full month.

The well-established Feria Hábitat València and Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar fairs – taking place at the same time and at the same venue, 19th to 22nd September at Feria Valencia – are now landmark annual events and, along with the city’s week dedicated to design (Valencia Disseny Week), are set to be the epicentre of València Design Fest, which embodies the spirit of Valencia World Design Capital 2022. It also includes the events in the local Valencian design ecosystem and also those of art galleries, cultural centres and entities linked to architecture and creativity in general.

The most notable initiatives slated to take place next September include a display of contemporary crafts commissioned by Estudio Savage, a series of master classes on the discipline, workshops led by Inma Bermúdez Studio (National Design Prize 2022), presentations of papers on leading figures in Valencian design who are also leading international figures, the première of a documentary titled ‘València 2022’ and the award ceremony for the first Premios de la Fundació del Disseny (Design Foundation Awards), which will turn the spotlight on the discipline’s social component.

This is definitely set to be a month of experiential, participative and open events that will continue highlighting Valencia’s link with and international standing in the world of creativity and design.

A major attraction for the industry

Against this background, the Feria Hábitat València and Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar trade fairs taking place at Feria Valencia from 19th to 22nd September will be a major attraction for the industry and for sectors involved in design.  Hábitat is the main international showcase for Spain’s interiors industry, with an extensive offering of furniture, lighting, decorative items, upholstery and sleep products. The fair grows every year and last year brought more than 48,000 professionals together from 70 countries.

For 2023, for example, and with more than two months still to go until opening day, Feria Hábitat Valencia has already signed up more than 600 Spanish and international companies and brands, with the fair extending the area it occupies and opening up a new hall as a result, taking up a total of almost 80,000m2 of exhibition space. The hall dedicated to the textile industry is in addition.

To complement the above, there will be a substantial programme of events running in parallel to the commercial activity during that week, at the exhibition venue itself. It includes themed exhibitions about the career of designer Gabriel Teixidó, a conceptual review of José Manuel Ferrero’s work over he 20years since he took part in the salón nude, and a display of the best of Miguel Milá, curated by consultancy Santa & Cole, that includes pieces by the designer of the Trenat y Mobles 114 collection.

Hábitat will also be hosting the “Scenes of the Near Future” exhibition inaugurated last year as part of Valencia World Design Capital 2022. Curated by Tachy Mora, it proposes a vision of what our domestic environments will be like within the next ten years.

The Ágora nude lectures will be one of the strong points of this design-centred cultural programme. This year the forum will feature a session on the contract sector and the reactivation of the hotel sector, amongst other things, including the Famous Brands Forum, a fascinating presentation on ‘food design’, an analysis if the trends in design and interior design and the participation of creatives such as Diego Gronda, Adrián Almonacid, Héctor Serrano and the team at Odosdesign.

Topping all of the above is a new edition of the Salón nude, a magnet for emerging design talent, which this year will once again be showing the most innovative creations from both young students, design consultancies and schools of design.

Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar, Spain’s foremost fair specialising in textiles for the home, will be adding an offering from more than 200 Spanish and international brands. This is the same number as exhibited at last year’s fair, and there are still two months to go until opening day. HTP comprises an excellent showcase of the latest innovations in textiles, design trends, innovations and sustainability for decorating interiors.

For its upcoming edition, HTP by Textilhogar will be enhancing the Boulevard de Editores space and, in a major new move, will be sharing space with leading international Spanish designer furniture manufacturers as a way of bringing in and highlighting the potential of the textile industry in the field of décor. The move also gives interior designers, designers, architects and other specifiers the opportunity to see all the trends and latest products in textile upholstery, wallpaper and wall coverings.

The fair will also feature the presentation of the 2024 Monograph on Trends in Home Textiles, a predictive analysis caried out by AITEX, in which exhibitors also took part.

Support and interest from the industry nationally

A great many of the Spanish interiors industry’s leading entities attended the launch event, including several members of the General Council of Official Decorators and Interior Designers, and Official Colleges of Decorators from across the Mediterranean Arc and the north of Spain.

Representatives of ICEX and the authorities, including the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Development, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Science and Innovation also attended the event, which took place at CaixaForum Madrid in partnership with the ‘La Caixa’ Foundation.

Trade association ASFEL will be co-ordinating these B2B meetings through IVACE Internacional and the European EEN network. The meetings were introduced by the fair in 2015 and have proven to be highly valued by the industry.

Hygienalia is also set to receive several groups of buyers on trade missions supported by ICEX. Participants will be coming from Estonia, Romania, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Morocco, Holland, Poland, Sweden, France and Portugal.

Valencia, 27th June junio 2023.- Hygienalia is making strides with its international reach. The sixth edition of the professional cleaning and hygiene trade fair, which is organised by Feria Valencia, takes place from 6th to 9th November this year at Madrid’s IFEMA exhibition centre, with a strong international element that positions it not just as Spain’s foremost event for the industry but also as the gateway to international markets for the companies exhibiting.

Great proof of that is that the B2B Meetings are being set up again. The initiative launched in 2915 and is promoted by the Asociación de Fabricantes Españoles de Productos de Limpieza e Higiene, ASFEL (Association of Spanish Manufacturers of Cleaning and Hygiene Products). It is hoped that this year around 200 of these meetings will be set up between exhibitors at Hygienalia 2023 and the international buyers who will be coming from 20 different countries.

Online meetings schedule

To take part, both exhibitors and visitors need to register on this dedicated platform, <https://hygienalia-madrid-professional-hygiene-fair.b2match.io/> . You can also contact other Spanish and foreign companies through the platform and send and receive meeting requests. Once these have been accepted, a schedule of meetings will be generated that reflects the commercial interests of each participant.

The B2B Meetings will last about 20 minutes each and will be designed, according to ASFEL, to promote networking amongst those taking part and create a network of top-level contacts in the trade, thereby fostering co-operation between companies. The aim will also be for the meetings to identify new opportunities and market trends, promote creating new business and international synergies, set up partnership deals between participants, and create visibility for them so they become accessible to future customers.

Supported by IVACE Internacional and the EEN European network

On ASFEL’s part, the B2B Meetings are being co-ordinated through IVACE Internacional and come within the framework of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN)<https://ipyme.org/es-es/politicasymedidas/union-europea/Paginas/red-een.aspx>, one of the leading agencies supporting European SMEs in their efforts to innovate and be competitive in the international arena.

The EEN network embraces more than 600 business organisations and 3,000 experts and is active in more than 60 countries. In Spain the members also enjoy support and promotion from business development entities in Andalusia, Madrid, Catalonia, Castilla la Mancha, Castilla León and the Basque Country.

Inbound trade missions for international buyers

Equally, and in line with Hygienalia’s international commitment, the professional cleaning and hygiene event will also be hosting a number of inbound trade missions for international buyers, who will be in Madrid to discover the newest products and latest trends being showcased by the exhibitors.

On this occasion, and once again thanks to ASFEL co-ordinating arrangements, ICEX will be supporting the international inbound missions financially and at an institutional level. The focus for the missions will be buyers from countries that are key markets for this sector of Spanish industry.

In this regard, the buyers will be coming from Estonia, Romania, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Morocco, Holland, Polonia, Sweden, France and Portugal.

Hygienalia 2023 is organised by Feria Valencia and promoted by ASFEL, the Association of Spanish Manufacturers of Cleaning and Hygiene Products, and AEFIMIL, the Spanish Association of Manufacturers  and Importers of Industrial and Cleaning Machinery. The last edition of Hygienalia comprised an offering from 109 exhibitors and welcomed 6,005 professionals from 35 countries and a range of sectors including hospitality, the food industry, facility services, health, the pharmaceutical industry, service stations and public facilities.

Spain’s foremost event for functional ingredients, ‘novel foods’ and finished products is coming up to its seventh edition and to mark the anniversary will be returning to the home in Barcelona that has delivered such good results for the last three years.

València, 26th june 2022.- Dates have been announced for the next edition of Nutraceuticals Europe Summit & Expo. What will already be the seventh edition of Spain’s leading trade fair dedicated to functional ingredients, ‘novel foods’ and finished products will be taking place on 6th and 7th March 2024, once again at the Barcelona International Convention Centre – CCIB.

This will be the third time in a row that the fair is held in Barcelona, returning to the same venue and repeating a formula that has delivered excellent results for the last three editions. The first time it took place at the CCIB, in 2022, the event welcomed more than 2200 trade visitors, an increase of 12% over the previous edition of the fair.

Last year, Nutraceuticals again recorded more than significant growth, with the number of professionals visiting registering an increase of more than 20%, positioning the fair decisiveky as southern Europe’s key event for this highly specialised segment of industry.

Great expectations

With these results in mind, Nutraceuticals Europe Summit & Expo’s technical team, headed by the fair’s director Esther Cano, has already begun to prepare for the 2024 edition, their focus firmly on consolidating the fair on its path to success and creating a quality showcase highly attractive to the different sectors of the industry. The aim is to continue to strengthen Nutraceuticals Europe Summit & Expo’s position as the best platform for showing the market the latest developments and research, much of which is astonishing and gives an indication of some of the trends set to emerge in the industry in the immediate future.

Innovation and learning

The event, which is being organised by Feria Valencia, will again be structured around two major areas. One the one hand, there will be a substantial exhibit and sales area where the 100-plus companies taking part will be showing their latest developments and market research to the Spanish and international professionals who come to the fair every year.

On the other, the Seminar Theatre will again be a standout feature of Nutraceuticals, a point of reference where prestigious speakers will not just talk about the new products on the market but will also tackle issues relating to innovation in nutraceutical ingredients, the new areas that research and development of nutritional products are focusing on, and the trends in the health and wellbeing market.

With three months to go until it takes place, the event, which takes place at Feria Valencia from 19th to 22nd  September, has more exhibitors booked in than last year and is dedicating more space for exhibits by opening up a new hall for avant-garde furniture.

The new names on board include companies such as Akaba, Bontempi, Ezpeleta, Fiam, Guadarte, Güell Lamadrid, Kave Home, Lladró, Mobel Yecla, Mobenia, Ros, Santa & Cole, Schuller and Serip Lighting, amongst. others.

València, 20 june 2023.-  Feria Hábitat Valencia continues to enhance its roster of exhibitors for this next edition, which runs from 19th to 22nd September and is following the bullish trend seen over the last few editions. The Feria Valencia show has in fact published a preview of the exhibitors that have already signed up for the upcoming edition on its official channel. With three months still to go until it opens, the numbers are already way ahead of those for the 2022 edition of the fair.

In that regard there are, as of today, more than 600 companies signed up to exhibit, a figure that has already overtaken the number of  exhibitors at last September’s edition and is stoking positive expectations for the 2023 show.

“Hábitat continues to grow, in line with the trend we have seen for the last few editions, which have consolidated our position as the major platform for the Spanish interiors industry to do business, both within Spain and internationally”, notes the event’s director, Daniel Marco. Also, he says, “we are still adding top-level companies that have unique, quality products that enhance our showcase”.

New exhibitors: from Belgium to Italy or Portugal

In terms of exhibitors and in contrast to the last edition of the fair, prestigious companies are returning to Hábitat. Spanish companies that fit this profile include leading edge design company Akaba, outdoor specialists Bivaq and Ezpeleta, office equipment group Isimobel, prestigious lighting companies Schuller and Fiam, and Lladró, which is also returning to the Feria Valencia show. As to new products, notable additions to the showcase include Spanish haute décor companies such as Guadarte and contemporary furniture designers Asitrade and Dareels, amongst others.

Muebles Ros, a leading manufacturer of furniture for the whole family, will be returning to Valencia with a large stand, where it will be launching a line for young adults as well as innovative partnerships with décor and upholstery providers. Other companies returning as exhibitors include leading Spanish companies Mobenia, Mobel Yecla, Santa & Cole and Güell Lamadrid, whilst the Kave Home group is taking part for the first time.

The upcoming edition of Feria Hábitat València seems, for its part, to have sparked considerable interest amongst the most prominent international companies. One clear example is that contrary to what happened with the last edition of the fair, major players such as Italian manufacturers Altacom Italia, Colos, Homes Spa, Stones SRL and lighting specialist Lodes have taken spaces.

Also notable amongst the line-up of exhibitors at Feria Hábitat València is a group of Belgian companies, which includes specialist outdoor brands Castle Line and Roolf Living, designer furniture company Cazzda and craft lighting maker ByEve.

Portugal is always a large presence at the fair and the group is being joined this year by several companies that are returning to the Feria Valencia showcase, such as Serip Lighting and contemporary furniture manufacturer Evanyrouse.

Feria Hábitat Valencia is the foremost international fair for the Spanish interiors industry and features an extensive range covering furniture, lighting, décor, upholstery and sleep. It features Spanish and international brands every year and more than 48,000 visitors from 70 countries visited the last edition. In 2023, it runs alongside Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar.

Valencia-based design agency Odosesign is devising a new, forward-looking image of Hábitat by “exploring raw materials” to reveal the “soul” of interiors.

The proposition forms the basis for the new creativity for the upcoming edition of Hábitat, slated to take place from 19th to 22nd September at Feria Valencia.

València, 15 june 2023.- Feria Hábitat València has launched what will be the new creativity for the marketing campaign for the upcoming edition of the fair, which runs from 19th to 22nd September at Feria Valencia. The new design is being worked on by the creatives at Valencia design agency Odosdesign and aims to uncover “the soul” of interiors, design or objects, furniture or lamps, hinting at the fresh take on fitting out interiors that will be provided through the sensory and experiential event that Feria Hábitat València 2023 is poised to be.

The creativity offers a forward-looking image of what is one of the foremost events on the Spanish and international interiors landscape: Feria Hábitat València. The main objective was to take the branding initially conceived by Odosdesign itself a stage further and focus it on the product and its high standard of quality, but this time from a conceptual perspective, making it memorable and clearly part of the circuit of key trade fairs for the industry.

The soul of the campaign

The aim was to represent different products linked to the interiors industry through their raw materials, thereby “exposing” the skeleton hidden inside a sofa, for example, or a little table or a lamp. “What we are drawing attention to”, the design agency explains, “is the essence and the importance of the design process that underlies the final result, which is the outer layer of each object that we finally get to see”.

For Odosdesign, therefore, “every thread woven with care, every one of a product’s layers, every joint has a history to it, a shared experience, and is pivotal to creating welcoming spaces full of personality. This creativity invites people to explore the raw materials used to make the products”.

The move means that Valencia is clearly still positioning itself as a destination indisputably linked to design, is evidently on top form and is maintaining the positive performance it has delivered in recent years in terms of figures and quality offering.

Odosdesign

Odosdesign is a design agency founded in 2002. It specialises in taking a broad design approach to create a concept that captures the essence of a brand. Its aim is to use creativity, research and transformative design to deliver the most impactful and lasting results. Driving its success is a multidisciplinary team of talented individuals led by Luis Calabuig and Ana Segovia. Over their 20 years in the business, they have worked with international brands such as Actiu, Mindo, Danao, Punt Mobles, Lladró and Fiora. Some of their creations, like the Ensombra parasol designed for Gandiablasco, have been displayed in design museums all over the world.

Feria Hábitat Valencia is the leading international showcase for Spain’s interiors industry, a wide-ranging showcase featuring furniture, lighting, decorative items, upholstery and sleep. It brings more than 600 Spanish and international companies together every year, whilst more than 48,000 visitors came to the last edition from 70 countries. In 2023, the fair runs alongside Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar.

The Association of Woodworking Entrepreneurs (ASEMAD) is set to return to the biennial fair as a group and will be creating a substantial exhibition area for the sector at this upcoming edition.

The sector is taking up the suggestion made during a presentation given by FIMMA + Maderalia at ASEMAD’s headquarters for woodworking to focus on projecting its highly professional profile, to the contract sector and specifiers in particular.

Valencia, 19th June 2023.- FIMMA + Maderalia 2024 continues to recruit support from the industry’s trade associations. Last Thursday, 8th June, the Association of Woodworking and Affiliated Trades Entrepreneurs of the Comunidad Valenciana (ASEMAD) hosted a presentation about the upcoming edition of FIMMA + Maderalia at its headquarters in the Parque Tecnológico de Paterna. Next year’s fair takes place from 14th to 17th May at Feria Valencia. A substantial number of woodworking companies, all members of the Association, attended the presentation, with speakers including Maderalia’s president, Alejandro Bermejo – who is also president of regional associations ASEMAD and FEVAMA (wood and furniture) – and the fair’s director, Alejandro Roda.

The presentations gave a preview of some of the core areas that the upcoming edition of the biennial will be structured around, whilst pointing up that woodworking should be a central component of the fair as it is one of the key sectors within the groups represented at FIMMA + Maderalia: on the one hand these businesses are customers of FIMMA’s machinery and technology exhibitors and, on the other, they are suppliers of solutions to interior design and construction challenges for the groups of visitors from the worlds of contract projects and specification.

Just how important the contract and interior design projects sectors are to woodworking and FIMMA + Maderlia itself was made clear at the event, and not without reason: they were highlighted at the last edition of FIMMA + Maderalia and will be an even greater presence – if that is indeed possible – at the 2024 fair.

In response, ASEMAD and FIMMA + Maderalia will themselves be encouraging the trade association’s member woodworking companies to exhibit as a group, to create a powerful, easily identifiable set of exhibitors showcasing everything these companies have to offer the market.

“Maderalia is the main trade fair in our country where companies in the woodworking sector will be able to show their latest innovations and advances to the different segments of the market, especially”, says Alejandro Bermejo, “to the Spanish and international specifiers who visit FIMMA + Maderalia and are such an important market for these companies”. For Maderalia’s president, “we are relying on the woodworking community so that we can continue to offer a formidable showcase to celebrate the 40 editions of FIMMA + Maderalia with next year”.

The association of purchasing professionals is set to promote the upcoming Hygienalia to its members. The fair is slated to take place from 7th to 9th November at IFEMA Madrid exhibition centre.

The professional cleaning and hygiene event will, for its part, stage a workshop on ‘Facility Management’ organised by AERCE.

Valencia, 30th May 2023.- The sixth edition of the Professional Cleaning and Hygiene Fair, Hygienalia, takes place in Madrid from 7th to 9th next November, at the IFEMA Madrid exhibition centre. The organisers have signed a partnership agreement with AERCE, the Spanish Association of Purchasing, Commissioning and Supply Professionals.

The agreement was signed off last Wednesday, 17th May, at AERCE’s offices in Madrid, by AERCE managing director Sara Ruiz and Hygienalia’s director Esther Cano, and will serve to make the Purchasing community more aware of the possibilities that the professional cleaning and hygiene sector, on show at the fair organised by Feria Valencia, has to offer.

Promoting Hygienalia

The agreement means that members of AERCE will receive full information on the forthcoming Hygienalia direct, including details of the extensive offering from the sectors represented at the fair, from cleaning and hygiene products to industrial and cleaning machines. The agreement will also facilitate these professionals’ visit to the IFEMA Madrid exhibition centre and Hygienalia itself.

What is more, AERCE is organising a workshop for the trade at Hygienalia on ‘Facility Management’, that will address different key aspects of this area of work within buildings, which champions integrating processes to maintain and develop services that support and improve the effectiveness of the main activities performed by organisation. The workshop is due to take place during Hygienalia on 8th November, starting at 10.30.

Teixidó will review the best of his work in a show that follows in the footsteps of those staged previously by Mario Ruiz, Ramón Esteve and Vicent Martínez.

An exhibition of the work of Spanish master of design Miguel Milá will be landing at Hábitat, staged by Santa & Cole, whilst Valencian designer José Manuel Ferrero will be going back to his roots at NUDE, marking 20 years of the show with a concept exhibition.

Valencia, 30th May 2023.- With more than 90% of the exhibition space at the upcoming edition already booked, Feria Hábitat València has started to configure its programme of activities, events and exhibits that will be taking place during the fair.

The fair, which runs from 19th to 22nd next September at Feria Valencia, will be organising an exhibition about the career of Catalan designer Gabriel Teixidó, one of Spain’s foremost names in contemporary interiors. The show will be one of the major pieces of content  at Feria Hábitat València 2023, and follows in the footsteps of other major shows staged by the fair such as those about Patricia Urquiola and Héctor Ruiz (2010), Jaime Hayón (2012), and more recently Mario Ruiz (2018), Ramón Esteve (2019) and Vicent Martínez (2022).

Visitors to Hábitat 2023 will also have the opportunity to see two further exhibitions about eminent figures in the world of design. One, curated by Santa & Cole, will feature the best of Miguel Milá, including items by the designer from the  Trenat and Mobles 114 collections. The Miguel Milá ehibition will not seek to be a typical retrospective but will instead attempt to provide a fresh, different insight into who Miguel Milá is, covering more than just a timeline and showing the Catalan designer’s typical accessibility and warmth.

Hábitat 2023 will also be staging a display of the most outstanding work by Ontinyent based designer José Manuel Ferrero, creativedirector at estudi{H}ac.

This exhibit will, according to the Habitat’s director Daniel Marco, consolidate “our commitment to recognising and promoting Spanish design through its leading exponents, with the best companies of the moment exhibiting and also by recognising the work, careers and talent of the designers themselves”.

Gabriel Teixidó, the methodical designer

Gabriel Teixidó was born in 1947 en Barcelona. Having trained at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artísticos de Barcelona, he set up as a freelance in 1970 and has worked on new projects one after the other ever since. He turned his ideas into commercial successes, which he attributes to his solid artistic base.

The method he applies to designing more than just ostentatious shapes has earned him several SIDI and Delta prizes. One of the main areas of his work is office furniture: technologically sophisticated pieces that he designs for a large number of companies.

He defines himself as a “fairly” industrial designer, oblivious to fashions. His way of working, alone, yields pared-back designs in shapes that are far from ostentatious. This discretion and efficacy have made him an eternal survivor within the Spanish design landscape. Teixidó has a special ability to turn his designs into commercial successes: “what I am interested in is that my designs are useful, that people feel comfortable with them, that they are a help”. As a designer he works closely with the companies that commission him and aspires for his designs to be profitable for them.

The list of companies he has worked with is extensive and includes Andreu World, Kendo Mobiliario, Enea, Oken, Joker, Grassoler, Santa & Cole, Disform, Grupo T, Interi, Aridi, Biok, Point, Levesta and Permasa,to name but a few.

Miguel Milá, master of Spanish design

Miguel Milá represents Spanish design like no-one else. A member of the generation of 1950s design pioneers, he has seen some of his pieces of furniture and lamps become genuine classics. Santa & Cole has been manufacturing his products since the company’s inception and sells them today in more than 80 countries. His products feature in the catalogues of companies such as Trenat and Mobles 114, also included in the display.  His work has been based on bringing tradition up to date, eschewing fashions and conventions, focusing on the development process and on ageing his pieces as a way of adding value, with aesthetics and beauty a consequence of the pursuit of functionality and excitement.

The objects he creates are accessible. Milá’s objects do not fulfil or create new uses but, rather, make existing uses easier and more convenient. They help improve the user’s experience without creating new needs. His objects are an expression of the triumph of ingeniousness over engineering, meaning that certain components of his objects fulfil several functions and cater for several needs. Thus the TM lamp family’s cable is also its own switch.

José Manuel Ferrero, atelier-made design.

The youngest of the three designers, for his part, José Manuel Ferrero, has over the last few decades made a niche for himself within Spain’s design landscape. Born in Ontinyent (Valencia) in 1978, he founded estudi{H}ac in 2003, turning his design ‘atelier’ into a point of reference for Spanish and international design.

It could be said that the British term ‘Bespoke’ is the dogma that informs every design by the Valencian industrial designer, as he creates ítems and elements that are unique to every project. Estudi{H}ac is conceived as a design atelier, specialising in creative concepts for projects. Every one is tailored specifically for the client in question to create unique, timeless spaces or products that deliver a stunning initial visual impact and have an amazing story behind them.

He works with well-known companies such as: Puricelli, Porcelanosa Grupo, Ondarreta, Vondom, Sancal, LZF, Toulemonde Bochart, Point, Estiluz, Harmony, Vical Design, Aromas del Campo, Vigar and Colección Alexandra. His work has as a result received recognition in the form of prestigious Spanish and international prizes including the German Design Awards, Restaurant & Bar Design Awards and an award from New York’s ICFF. One of his latest creations was the ‘Tailor Hotel’ installation at the most recent edition of FIMMA + Maderalia at Feria Valencia itself.

Feria Hábitat Valencia is the foremost international showcase for the Spaish interiors industry, featuring a vast range of furniture, lighting, decorative ítems, upholstery and sleep and bedding. It brings together more than 600 Spanish and international companies every year, whilst the latest edition received more than 48,000 trade visitors from 70 countries. In 2023, the fair takes place alongside Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar.

Companies including Homag, Biesse, SCM, Felder and Barberán, amongst others, met with the representatives of Feria Valencia’s biennial trade fair at the latest edition of Ligna in Hanover.

Valencia, 24th May 2023.- Last week the FIMMA + Maderalia technical team, headed by the fair’s director, Alejandro Roda, brought the special international promotion that had been rolled out in Germany recently, to a close. The initiative took them to visit Interzum in Cologne (9th-12th May) and Ligna in Hanover (15th-19th May). At Ligna, it became clear to the FIMMA + Maderalia team that the world’s leading players in the machinery and technology for furniture-making sector were hugely interested in finding out all about the upcoming edition of FIMMA, the specialist fair for those sectors.

At Ligna, the FIMMA + Maderalia team made a great many contacts and held numerous meetings at the highest level with the heads of leading companies, traditional exhibitors at the FIMMA + Maderalia biennial show, who are now looking forward to the next edition. Good examples were manufacturers from Germany, which is at the leading edge of the industry with companies including Homag Group, IMA Schelling Group and Weinig Holz-Her, and major Austrian manufacturer the Felder Group.

The organisers aim to have a significant representation of the latest technology and solutions from Italy as well. At Ligna, the FIMMA + Maderalia team met companies such as Biesse, SCM, Cefla, Masterwood, Bacciand Top, amongst many others.

At Ligna they also strengthened their contacts with Spanish manufacturers of machinery and solutions for the industry, who view FIMMA + Maderalia as Spain’s main showcase for the sector. Companies such as Barberán, Intorex, Cehisa, Virutex and Biele spoke to the sales team from the Feria Valencia event during their visit to Ligna.

At the Hanover fair they also had the opportunity to see and meet companies from associated sectors that fall within the scope of the FIMMA + Maderalia showcase. One example is the adhesives sector, where they met with companies such as Kleibert and QS Adhesivos. Other examples include the important biomass and first-stage processing industries, with the team meeting companies such as Barton, Bar-Gar, Oñaz, Sugimat, Recalor, Maypro and Cape; and other industries related to building with wood such as Hundegger and Essetre.

Immensely positive outcome

FIMMA + Maderalia director Alejandro Roda claims in this regard that the outcome from the sales missions to Interzum and Ligna these last two weeks was “immensely positive”. “It was clear to us that the trade is enormously eager to come to FIMMA + Maderalia 2024. The timber industry’s most representative companies expressed a keen interest in coming to Feria Valencia next year”, Roda explained.

The fair’s director also pointed out the benefits to visitors and exhibitors of the fact that “FIMMA + Maderalia is the only fair in the world that brings together in one place all the sectors that events such as Interzum and Ligna host separately. This is something that industry professionals have mentioned to us and that they attach great value to as a point of difference”. Looking ahead, Roda said that “we are preparing a very special FIMMA + Maderalia. In 2024 we will be celebrating our 40th edition and 60 years of working alongside the industry. It will be an historic edition that nobody should miss”.

Feria Valencia technical team meets representatives of world’s foremost manufacturers in sectors such as components and board, ahead of the upcoming edition of FIMMA + Maderalia (14 – 17 May 2024).

Valencia, 19th May 2023.- A technical team from FIMMA + Maderalia, led by the fair’s director, Alejandro Roda, is currently in Germany attending the Interzum (Cologne, 9th-12th May) and Ligna (Hannover, 15th-19th May) trade fairs. These are the world’s top events this year in the field of materials and processes for interior design and furniture manufacturing (Interzum), and systems, technology and machinery for processing and working with wood (Ligna).

The two events gather together a similar offering to what will be showcased at next year’s fresh edition of FIMMA + Maderalia, which takes place from 14th to 17th May at Feria Valencia, comprising an excellent opportunity to see the latest products on the market. And if this first fair is anything to go by, the sector is currently expanding, with numerous projects under way and new products and innovations on view for manufacturing furniture and decorating interiors.

This optimistic outlook also carries over to the next edition of FIMMA + Maderalia, which will be Europe’s foremost fair for the entire industry next year given that, as was evident ‘in situ’, the 2024 Feria Valencia event is generating great expectations amongst the world’s leading players in the sector, especially given that it will be the 40th anniversary of the biennial.

In the area of fittings and components, for example, the FIMMA + Maderalia technical team has held several meetings with the most senior representatives of companies such as Blum, Salice, Titus, Hettich, Hafële, Indaux and Kesseböhmer, amongst others. These have been meetings at the highest level at which the heads of these flagship companies have learned at first-hand about the latest features the Spanish fair is introducing.

In the field of MDF, particleboard etc., leading manufacturers such as Egger, Sonae, Alvic, Losan and Finsa, are just some that have expressed interest in the international showcase that FIMMA + Maderalia 2024 next May is poised to be.

FIMMA + Maderalia open to the world

The contacts made at Interzum over the last few days have reinforced even further FIMMA + Maderalia’s profile as a global showcase. This is becoming very evident in the interest manifested by companies outside Europe, such as the group from India, headed by laminates manufacturer Greenland Laminates, as well as by exhibitors from Turkey such as Kastamonuand Yildiz Entegre, and even Japan, including leading architectural components manufacturer Sugatsune. All of these are in addition to leading European manufacturers such as Italy’s Tabu and Cleaf,  and Denmark’s Furnipart.

During its time at Interzum, FIMMA + Maderalia’s technical team also went to see the large delegation of 67 Spanish companies exhibiting independently at Köelnmesse as well as those that usually exhibit at the Feria Valencia fair.

FIMMA + Maderalia collaborated actively with Arvet-Cofearfe in this promotional initiative and the group will be helping organise trade missions to the Valencia fair for international buyers in 2024.

Next stop Hannover

Without hardly pausing for breath, the FIMMA + Maderalia team moved on to the Deutsche Messe exhibition centre in Hannover, where they are right now, to attend the global machinery and technology biennial, Ligna. A raft of sales meetings is to be held at the fair, with some of the 1200 exhibitors, including representatives of the foremost suppliers of technology, machinery and solutions for the furniture and wood industry, all with a view to signing them up to exhibit at

FIMMA + Maderalia 2024.

With seven months to go before it opens, the outlook for the professional hygiene and cleaning event, set to take place at the IFEMA exhibition venue in Madrid from 7th to 9th November, continues to improve.

Organised by Feria Valencia, the fair is once again being promoted by the associations of manufacturers of cleaning products and machinery, ASFEL and AEFEMIL.

Valencia, 3th May 2023.- The outlook for Hygienalia 2023 is good. With six months still to go before opening day, the sixth edition of the Professional Hygiene and Cleaning Fair, Hygienalia, which takes place from 7th to 9th November at the IFEMA exhibition centre in Madrid, has already exceeded the amount of space booked for its last edition. Hygienalia’s Organising Committee noted in its latest meeting that the specialist trade fair already has 11.38% more exhibition space booked, in fact, that for its last edition.

The organisers have signalled their positive expectations for this year’s event following the success of the fair’s most recent edition, in 2021, when the professional cleaning and hygiene products and systems sector and the machinery and technology sector exhibited together, the latter with the support of trade association AEFIMIL. This last edition hosted the offering of a hundred Spanish and international exhibitors and 6000 visiting professionals, whilst occupying more than 4000 square metres, gross, of exhibition space.

One of the main new features for this upcoming edition in November will be the change of venue: the last edition was held at the Casa de Campo in Madrid, whilst Hygienalia 2023 is being held at the IFEMA exhibition centre, also in Madrid. A scenario of evolution and change to which the industry seems to have responded positively.

The Organising Committee

Accordingly, Hygienalia’s Organising Committee reviewed the outlook for the upcoming edition of the fair when it met at Feria Valencia last Thursday, 20th April. The business associations and other entities involved in organising the fair also attended the meeting.

The Committee met with the presidents of the two associations that drive the event also present: Juan Carlos Cebriá of the Asociación de Fabricantes Españoles de Productos de Limpieza e Higiene (ASFEL, Association of Spanish Manufacturers of Cleaning and Hygiene Products) and Antonio Albesa, of the Asociación Española de Fabricantes e Importadores de Maquinaria Industrial y Limpieza (AEFIMIL, Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Importers of Industrial and Cleaning Machinery). Also attending were representatives of ARVET (Agrupación de Empresas Exportadoras Españolas, Spanish Exporters Association) and the fair’s director, Esther Cano.

The last edition of Hygienalia showcased the offering of 109 companies and brands and welcomed 6005 professionals who visited from 35 countries, representing the Hotel, Restaurant and Catering (‘Horeca’) sector, the food industry, facility services, the health sector, the pharmaceutical industry, service stations and public venues and facilities.

The biennial show has set the dates for its return next year, highlighting its conviction that the first half of the year works best and boosting its positioning as Europe’s foremost fair for the industry in even-numbered years.

The upcoming edition of FIMMA + Maderalia is set to be a very special one as the show will be celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Valencia, 27th March 2023.- The dates for FIMMA + Maderalia 2024 have now been announced. The biennial fair for technology, components and materials for furniture, interior design and contract projects has now set the dates for it hotly anticipated return next year. FIMMA + Maderalia will run from Tuesday 14th to Friday 17th May 2024, with Feria Valencia poised to host a very special edition of the show, which will be celebrating its 40th anniversary.

This edition will be both special and historic, thanks to outstanding results reaped by last year’s fair and the industry’s enthusiasm, which was made evident at the last two meetings of FIMMA’s and Maderalia’s Organising Committees.

The biennial will therefore be aiming to position itself once again as Europe’s leading fair taking place in the first half of even-numbered years, fitting neatly into the global trade fair calendar. May is the classic month for the major industry events, as is demonstrated by the international German fairs, Ligna and Interzum, which take place in odd-numbered years, coming up imminently.

40 editions and a commitment to internationalization

FIMMA + Maderalia takes over the baton from the German fairs in 2024 and will be staging what is expected to be an historic edition that, in the heat of Valencia’s late spring, will bring a diversity of Spanish and international professionals together – installers, carpenters, furniture makers, interior designers and specifiers in general – in line with the stated aim voiced at the latest meetings of the respective Organising Committees.

The fact is that one of the main aims that FIMMA + Maderalia has set itself is to extend the international scope of both the showcase, by bringing leading international companies on board, and the audience, especially by drawing professionals to visit from the countries around the Mediterranean and Latin America. “Bearing in mind that we are already committed to bringing the whole Iberian Peninsula market to the fair, FIMMA + Maderalia 2024 will also have a strong international profile”, explains the biennial’s director, Alejandro Roda, adding that the fair is working with business organisations and leading institutions to identify and invite groups of international buyers that will be of most interest to exhibitors.

Another of FIMMA + Maderalia 2024’s overall objectives is to broaden the range of profiles of the professionals who visit, with a special focus on specifiers (architects, interior designers and project managers in the contract sector) and students from training centres.

In this regard there was an observable and significant interest last time round on the part of specifiers, who were particularly keen to sek out the most innovative flooring, cladding and materials for hotel, restaurant and retail projects. Looking ahead to the next edition of FIMMA + Maderalia the exhibitors, particularly those in the field of machinery and technology, have spoken of the need to have training centres and the professionals of the future in the mix of visitor profiles for the fair.

Much more than wood

Equally, next year’s edition of the fair will continue to pursue the strategy of the last few editions in terms of expanding its scope, to include not just products derived from wood but also the broad spectrum of new materials that are increasingly being used in interior design.

Composites, sustainable panels, claddings, acrylic materials, postformed items… a whole universe of materials for which there is a growing demand and that will be on show at FIMMA + Maderalia 2024, the ideal showcase for reaching the market. Nonetheless, “wood will continue to be at the heart of our fair,” notes Roda, “and not just in terms of how it is normally used but especially with regard to sectors where there is an ever-growing demand for it such as construction”.

What is FIMMA + Maderalia?

FIMMA + Maderalia is the International Fair for Materials, Technology and Components for Furniture, Interior Design and Contract Projects, which will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024 at Feria Valencia. The last edition featured the offering of 396 direct exhibitors, with 844 companies and brands represented. 35,942 professionals visited form 60 countries, 10% up on the number that visited the previous edition of the fair.

Slated to take place from 19th to 22nd September, the fair has confirmed that its highest hopes have already been met and that it is set to maintain the positive progress achieved by the last edition which together with the kitchen and textile sectors, occupied eight of Feria Valencia’s halls.

Hábitat has rolled out an intensive sales drive over the last few months, visiting the manufacturing clusters in Girona, Barcelona, the Basque Country, Lucena, Mancha Real, Yecla, La Sènia, Seville and Portugal, amongst other places and signing up numerous international companies.

Valencia, 22nd March 2023.- Great outlook for Feria Hábitat 2023. The next edition of the ‘made in Spain’ interiors event par excellence will be taking place from 19th to 22nd September and will be at least as successful as the last edition.

What this means is that with six months still to go until opening day, Hábitat has already sold 90% of the exhibition space set aside for this upcoming edition. According to the event’s sales team, this success is down to both the large number of exhibitors from last time – more than 87% – returning and to new exhibitors coming on board, some of which are taking very large stands.

It should be remembered that the last edition, in September 2022, was the biggest Hábitat of the last ten years, taking up eight of the halls at Feria Valencia alongside the home textiles and kitchen furniture and equipment fairs.

This year, textile industry event Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar is again being staged alongside Hábitat, whilst Espacio Cocina SICI, which is biennial, will be back in 2024, allowing Hábitat to cater for any additional demand for exhibition space this year.

Intense sales drive

All of the above reflects the results of an intense sales drive undertaken by Hábitat’s commercial team in recent months that involved visits to the industry’s main manufacturing clusters. The team visited and met manufacturers in a number of areas including La Sènia, Girona, Barcelona, the Basque Country, Yecla, Mancha Real, Seville and Lucena, where an agreement was signed off recently to renew the group participation of local Andalusian companies in the Valencia fair.

International companies keen to exhibit.

The various sales meetings also led to a considerable number of international manufacturers signing up to exhibit – companies that are very interested in the Spanish market and are characterised by being market leaders in their respective sectors. These companies are from Italy, France, Holland and Portugal and in 2023 more will be exhibiting at Hábitat than ever before.

“The response from the industry has been exceptional”, claims the fair’s director, Daniel Marco. “It was very important that, on the back of the huge success of the last edition, we maintain the positive trend generated by the city’s status as world design capital. And judging by the response we are getting from our exhibitors, the industry is once again confirming Feria Hábitat Valencia’s position as the great business platform for the industry and the gateway to internationalization and exports”, Marco notes.

Space allocation set to begin in May

Exhibitors will continue to be signed up during this month (March) and April so that stands can start to be configured and spaces can begin to be allocated in May. Hábitat 2023 will feature almost every sector and market segment related to furniture, lighting and décor, in a global overview of the latest trends in interior design, with the best Spanish and international providers specialised in design, décor, contemporary furniture, children’s furniture, bedding and upholstery, amongst others, exhibiting.

Feria Hábitat Valencia is the foremost international event for Spain’s interiors sector, with a wide-ranging showcase of furniture, lighting, décor, upholstery and bedding. Every year, it brings more than 600 Spanish and international companies together, whilst the last edition welcomed over 48,000 trade visitors from a total of 70 countries. In 2023 it will be running alongside Home Textiles Premium by Textilhogar.

Organising Committee is reformed with Valencia business leader Alejandro Bermejo at the helm and aims for a “more international” edition “with an active presence of specifiers and contract professionals”.

FIMMA + Maderalia 2024 set to be very special edition, celebrating 40th anniversary of fair that brings full offering of materials, technology and components for furniture, interior design and contract sectors together.

Valencia, 14th February 2023.- Maderalia is getting set. The first meeting of the Organising Committee for the specialist event for materials and components for furniture, interior design and Contract projects that, alongside machinery and technology, forms part of biennial trade fair FIMMA + Maderalia, took place yesterday afternoon to launch preparations for the next edition of the fair, slated to take place in 2024. The definitive dates will be set following a FIMMA Organising Committee meeting scheduled for the end of this month.

Maderalia has already formed a revamped organising Committee that has a new chairman at the helm: Valencia business leader Alejandro Bermejo (Alto Turia). The committee also ranges across a broad spectrum of business and industry profiles, including a notable number of women.

Along with Bermejo the Maderalia Committee includes Francisco Bernabeu (Puertas Castalla), Jorge Blanquer (Maderas y Chapas Blanquer), Ramón Gabarró (Gabarró), Mónica Aznar (Emedec), Ramiro Llop (Krion – Porcelanosa Grupo), Encarna Torito (Cantisa), Juan Carlos Poveda (Sambeat) and Mario Aristoy (Lamiplast).

40th anniversary and a more international profile

The 2024 edition of FIMMA + Maderalia is set to be a very special one, as the fair will be celebrating its 40th anniversary as the benchmark event for the industry. The Organising Committee is aiming to create a “very powerful” edition of Maderalia, according to Committee chairman Alejandro Bermejo, with internationalisation at its very heart.

“We will be aiming to set up partnerships with both the industry’s main trade associations and the public authorities so we can deliver trade missions comprising high-quality visitors with substantial purchasing power from those international markets that are key to our exhibitors”, notes Bermejo.

On this same issue, Maderalia’s Organising Committee noted the need to focus on a profile of visitor that was significant at the last edition of the fair: specifiers and contract sector professionals. “These are highly qualified professionals who can give companies an entrée into the contract sector, which opens up major business and market positioning opportunities for our exhibitors”, explainsMaderalia’s new president.

To achieve its objective, the fair will again be driving a set of initiatives designed to attract visitors who fit this profile, along similar lines to the highly successful ‘Taylor Hotel’ installation at the last edition that was created by the prestigious design consultancy headed by José Manuel Ferrero and was applauded by the industry in general.

“FIMMA + Maderalia 2024 will be celebrating 40 editions of market leadership. We want it to be not just a meeting point for the entire industry but also a real, effective business platform for both the domestic and the international markets, with leading brands and companies in the various sectors taking part”, says Alejandro Bermejo.

What is FIMMA + Maderalia?

FIMMA + Maderalia is the International Fair of Materials, Technology and Components for Furniture, Interior Design and Contract Projects, which will celebrate its 40th edition in 2024 at Feria Valencia. In its last call, it welcomed an offer of 396 direct exhibitors and 844 firms and brands represented and received the visit of 35,942 professionals from 60 countries, which represented an increase of 10% compared to the previous edition.
