Valencia, 17th January 2019.- The next edition of Espacio Cocina SICI, which runs from 28th January to 1st February at Feria Valencia, has put together an extensive programme of events set to take place both at the exhibition venue itself and in the city of Valencia. Part of the industry’s ‘Semana de la Cocina de València’ initiative, the programme features a packed schedule of activities, from cookery demonstrations to product demonstrations and workshops, technical sessions for professionals and meetings between interior designers, decorators and students. The aim is to enrich the fair’s exhibition and commercial content, which will this year comprise in excess of a hundred Spanish and international companies and brands located across what is expected to be 18,000+ square metres of exhibition space.

The programme is brimming with remarkable cooking professionals and celebrities who will share their particular take on the world of cooking. One of these is journalist and television presenter Roberto Leal, who will be at the fair on the Friday taking part in a session open to the public – a cookery demonstration – alongside famous architect Teresa Sapey. Having hosted the most recent series of Operación Triunfo, Leal is one of the small screen’s best-known faces and was also tasked with literally ringing in this latest new year on TVE’s La Primera, alongside Anne Igartiburu,

The presenter, from Seville, will share the cooking with famous Italian architect Teresa Sapey, who is now based in Madrid. Together they will create a special marriage of design, cooking and television, led by TV chef Diego Ferrer and brands Antalia and NEFF. Espacio Cocina SICI will also welcome the popular television chef Karlos Arguiñano and the Valencian chef Begoña Rodrigo, who will cook exclusively for the Neolith coatings firm.

It will be one of many ‘showcookings’ scheduled to take place over the five action-packed days of the fair. There will be cooking demonstrations, product demonstrations and wine tastings – like the ones being offered by Delta Cocinas – and, most of all, the kitchens of the future are set to be revealed.

An outstanding feature of the programme that will truly set the professional tone of the event, is a series of technical seminars geared to the trade that will address and explore the changing paradigm in the kitchen industry. More specifically, the contract and project sectors will be under the spotlight on the Monday as one of the industry’s major areas of business. The following day’s sessions will address the challenges and threats facing the kitchen retail sector, particularly online sales, then on Wednesday afternoon the sessions will take an in-depth look at the future challenges and opportunities of using design tools for decorating kitchen furniture.

As Espacio Cocina – SICI is also targeted at interior designers, decorators and specifiers, the organizers have scheduled in a conference for these professionals, which they are arranging in conjunction with trade association AMC and the General Council of Official Colleges of Decorators and Interior Designers of Spain (CGCODDI). Set to take place on the Wednesday, it will offer a full programme of meetings and talks with top-level companies.

The programme of cookery demonstrations includes two notable items: one being organized by manufacturer Franke and given by renowned pâtissier and member of the Jacob Torreblanca family line and a presentation of Antalia’s new FUN&DES collection by chef Diego Ferrer.  Visitors to Espacio cocina – SICI will also have the opportunity to enjoy pop-up restaurants set up by the Valencia Club Cocina with professional chefs at the helm and that will also showcase innovative products from manufacturers such as Cosentino, Cincocinas and Inalco.

NEFF Activities

Another notable feature of the programme is the series of demonstrations and workshops being organized by NEFF, Espacio Cocina – SICI 2019’s global partner, that will focus on healthy eating and the importance of efficient extracting, with the company’s latest extractor hood models being put through their paces. The prestige brand will be a major part of the programme as it will be staging ‘showcooking’ sessions given by TV chef Diego Ferrer both in the kitchen that is being built for the purpose in the Ágora SICI and on exhibitors stands, including those of Kuchentime, 2AKuchen and Antalia.

NEFF will be delivering other activities too, during the week, in its exclusive ‘NEFF Experience Area’, including tastings and demonstrations of vacuum packing and how its Slide&Hide ovens work. The manufacturer will also be demonstrating its hob with integrated extractor by cooking popcorn at a number of ‘NEFF Pop Corn Points’ throughout the venue. The company will also be offering visitors the opportunity to leave messages at ‘NEFFresh Points’ – slate-clad fridges. Lastly, it has booked a media conference for midday on the Tuesday.

Marble and worktop events

A dedicated event for kitchen worktop installers is slated to take place too and will be one of the highlights of the fair: the 1st Marble Craftsmen’s Forum, on the Thursday afternoon, organized by specialist portal Focus Piedra, will review the experiences of five leading companies from Cantabria, Murcia, Zaragoza, Valencia and Girona.

The fair is also the setting chosen by several of the industry’s operators for giving out awards – for instance coverings specialist Neolith, which will be awarding the prize to the winner of its best Marble Craftsman of the Year Competition and prestigious magazine Cocinas y Baños, which has chosen Espacio Cocina SICI to hold the award ceremony for its Premios Cocinas y Baños (Kitchens and Bathrooms Prizes). Manufacturer Cosentino will be introducing its Cosentino Design Challenge Competition, now in its eighteenth year.
