Christoph Tessmar, Convention Bureau of Barcelona Director, is the new president of the ICCA Iberian Chapter on a two-year term (2019-2021). With him, were elected last Friday, April 12, in Porto, as deputy chair Jorge Vinha da Silva, Altice Arena CEO, as treasurer Alexandra Ramos, Algarve Tourism Board Senior MICE Manager, and the vocals Carina Montagut, Manager Strategical Events – Feria Valencia, Francisco Quereda, Málaga Convention Bureau Director, and Eva Garde, Granada Convention Bureau Director. Carmen Aguirregomezcorta keeps her position as Chapter secretary.

In a short testimony, Christoph Tessmar stressed the importance of establishing even stronger relations with other associations in the sector and with other chapters within ICCA; continuing to focus on communication, within and outside the Iberian Chapter, so that the community can become stronger, and relevant topics were known and discussed; and finally, a very clear investment in attracting new members, especially in Portugal, where the progression margin is quite large. Tessmar promised a committed board, which will work hard to achieve these goals.

In Porto, it was approved to hold these meetings two  years in Spain and one in Portugal, instead of what has happened so far, one year in Spain and another in Portugal. And next year the destination will be Palma de Mallorca.

Noteworthy is the emotional farewell of the Chapter’s former president, Ricardo Vieira, from Madeira Tourism, after two years in office.

The Porto meeting, held from 10th to 12th April, had a full program,  including a session with clients, experiences shared by presidents  of other chapters, an expert session on “CRM: Becoming a Data Management Rockstar”, a powerful presentation on “Music &  Business” led by David Ordinas, how to take more profit out of ICCA, with Marta Gomes, 2nd Vice President and Elif Balci, ICCA Regional  Director for Europe, a business exchange, and the usual ICCA database workshop.
