Nutraceuticals grows exhibitor numbers, with 113 companies from 17 countries set to showcase offering

The seventh edition of Spain’s foremost event for functional ingredients, ‘novel foods’ and finished products has increased the size of the showcase by 13%, with its international scope endorsed by 40% of all exhibitors being from other countries. 

The fair is returning to the Barcelona ICC to show the latest developments in natural products and solutions for healthy living and wellness.

Valencia, 5 March 2024.- All is set for a new edition of Nutraceuticals Europe Summit & Expo. The Barcelona International Convention Centre – BICC is the setting for the Nutraceuticals Europe Summit & Expo for the third time in a row, whilst this will be the seventh edition of what is Spain’s leading event for functional ingredients, ‘novel foods’ and finished products. Organised by Feria Valencia, the fair is now firmly established as an international meeting point for the main operators in the industry and a showcase for innovation where professionals from all over the world can get up to speed with the latest discoveries courtesy of the sector’s leading companies.

The 2024 edition of the Nutraceuticals showcase is substantially bigger, featuring 113 companies and brands exhibiting, 13.2% more than at the last edition. What is more, the event is reasserting its international status with as much as 40% of the offering coming from exhibitors from 16 foreign countries, specifically Argentina, Belgium, China, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Together with the Spanish exhibitors they comprised one of the most significant showcases for the industry on the current circuit.

Innovations for health

The show will present the latest innovations and solutions from an industry that is 100% focused on innovation and that transforms the best nature has to offer into healthy living and wellness products. Many of the products being launched will be on display in Nutraceuticals’ ‘Premium Substances’ zone, which gathers together  some of the most significant innovations on show at the fair.

Examples of these include a patented fig extract that stabilizes blood sugar levels, a standardized olive extract that is a powerful antioxidant, an artichoke extract with the potential to promote pre-biotic health, a clinically researched cucumber extract that promotes joint health and an innovative standardized lemon extract, eriocitrin, that can enhance cardio-metabolic, vascular and cognitive function.

Other standout products include a standardized extract of spinach leaves that enhances muscle strength and quality, a revolutionary pomegranate extract with multiple health applications including nutri-cosmetics and cardiovascular and intestinal health and a new technology that masks tastes in gummies, a frequent problem faced in the nutraceuticals industry. There will also be products that promises to revolutionise the market such as a new curcumin-based product, the only one of its type to have been approved for the European market by the EFSA and that enable manufacturers to formulate small doses, amongst many other innovations.

‘Seminar Theatre’ lecture programme.

As well as the extensive range of products on show, Nutraceuticals also offers an outstanding programme of lectures, talks and workshops as part of its  Seminar Theatreprogramme. The ‘theatre’ is a dedicated zone where highly specialised presentations will be given by representatives of companies exhibiting who will review some of the main innovations on show in the fair’s commercial zone.

This year, joint, cognitive and mental health, and specific solutions for the so-called ‘third age’ is set to be one of the major issues being addressed in the presentations.

Just some of the more notable presentations include one about the first plant-based, patented hyaluronic acid proven to support joints, a keenly anticipated nutraceutical ingredient containing ceramides that has been clinically proven to effectively promote hair growth and the first protein made of bioactive collagen peptides that boost performance, stamina and energy metabolism in athletes.
